What about if there are special characters in the site title? I.e. ?, #, etc.

Subject: [Building Sakai] SHortened URLs in URI?

Is there any reason to display the long Site_ID code in the URI field in a course has a shortened URL name?

e.g. to display:
   http://sakaiserver.mySite.edu/portal/site/my-course/page/c30b33bf-51c4-42cd-aca7-dfd118cadf04
instead of:
   http://sakaiserver.mySite.edu/portal/site/5df9ab2f-79e7-4514-b41d-38d4bd88dc8b/page/c30b33bf-51c4-42cd-aca7-dfd118cadf04<http://sakai.cs.mum.edu/portal/site/5df9ab2f-79e7-4514-b41d-38d4bd88dc8b/page/c30b33bf-51c4-42cd-aca7-dfd118cadf04>

And in the same direction, why not have a standard readable name for the standard paces, so ti would read:
   http://sakaiserver.mySite.edu/portal/site/my-course/page/assignments<http://sakai.cs.mum.edu/portal/site/my-course/page/assignments>

Just to help humans with UI usage! :-)
