[Building Sakai] Build problems with 2.9 on Centos

Thank you;
I was going by the guide at:
    https://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/BOOT/Development+Environment+Setup+Walkthrough
Which claimed to be " This is currently tailored for Sakai 2.9+.",
And advised: " Download Maven 2.2.X (minimum of 2.2.1)"
(last edited by ... on Jan 09, 2013)

The "2.9 install guide" at
   https://confluence.sakaiproject.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=82249316
however does say: " Maven 3.0 or later is the required for performing Sakai 2.9 builds."
    (last edited ... on Feb 13, 2013)

I had 2.2 since that is the default version from the Centos yum package manager.

I just tried a reinstall of Java-1.6.0, stayed with the default package version of Maven 2.2.1,
And it certainly seems to have made a good impact - the build now progressed way past this prior error,
And .... After only 99237 lines of messages, and Total time: 60 minutes 36 seconds,
It reports:: [INFO] BUILD SUCCESSFUL !

Thanks for the help and references - I'll try more testing tomorrow.
(So using Maven 2.2.1 did seem to be OK.)

Hi Gregory,
I found this post, where the error has been resolved:

I hope it will be helpful.
Regards, Samuel.

To build Sakai 2.9, is required maven version 3:
