[Building Sakai] Example of Using Sakai 2.8.1 EntityBroker Restful Webservices

I am currently writing a external application which will consume the 
/direct/membership Restful WebService.  I am having a issue figure out 
how to do the authentication for this in my java code?

Does anyone have a example of this that they can point me too?
