[Building Sakai] Portal neo CHAT - loading problem

Hi Sam,

IE's not. We still have people on IE7 :) Safari's also not had it long so
it's a bit dodgy.

Websockets are the obvious candidate for reducing the socket use of portal
chat but I don't want to exclude a large group of potential users (the IE
crowd). In the interim, I'm just adding a config property to increase the
poll interval. It may also be worth going though the getLatestDate custom
action to check for bottlenecks in the connection serialisation. I'll take
a look at that as well.

Tania, do these problems occur when you are on the My Workspace tab?

Cheers,
Adrian.
