The Yale signup tool can create groups but only if you have the appropriate checkbox selected. Does that sound likely?

Subject: [Building Sakai] Groups automatically created by tools

Hi everybody.

Since we started with Sakai, we have used Section Info and have not made any use of Groups, because we thought that just one out of both tools was enough for us.

Now I have found in our test server (with Sakai 2.9.2) several groups created without our knowledge.

These groups have titles like "Access: <TOPIC>" where topic is the name of a forum topic or of an assignment.

We are not sure about when these groups have been created or with which steps. We have tried to create new assignments and forum topics and that doesn't create groups right now.

In our 2.7.1 production environment we don't have groups at SAKAI_SITE_GROUP that start with "Access:" string, so I think that this issue could be related to some 2.9 version (we have tested 2.9.0, 2.9.1 and currently 2.9.2).

I'm worried by this issue because soon we are going to production with 2.9.2. I would like to know if somebody has seen this in their server and if it is solved.

Please, help me and if you need more info, don't hesitate to tell me what do you need.

Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
