To simply turn off outgoing mail, you can edit sakai properties to set smtp.enabled=true

Good Morning,

I am from UNISA, we are using Sakai 2.8.0.

We updated our dev database with the production data. Now announcement notification is going out to students from our dev environment.  Can someone please explain how the announcements work, does it get the e-mail address from the Active Directory.  When an announcement is made and the announcement is scheduled to go out at a later stage are these emails stored somewhere or does the scheduled job look at the announcements itself.

Fastest fix I think will be for us to delete all the announcements from the development database to prevent it from going out to the students.

How do you prevent these e-mails from going out to the students?
