[Building Sakai] Portal chat problems in cluster envr

You need multicast working on the subnet in which the nodes reside. The
jgroups nodes communicate using UDP multicast by default, although it can
be configured. Can you confirm that your subnet is multicast enabled?
That's the first thing to check.
