[Building Sakai] 'Returned' status in osp - is there any functuional documentation?

Hello,

We (LOI) did recently an upgrade from Sakai 2.6.3 to Sakai 2.8.1 and for OSP tool we have a new status ('Returned') for evaluating a Matrix.

I am trying to understand how this works. I have tried to find some documentation about this new status but could not find anything that would clear up how it works and what is the difference between Reopening a cell and Returning a cell in Matrix.

It is clear that a student can access a cell that has the status 'Returned', can add more evidence and submit it again.
It is not clear what is the behavior after submitting again a cell with status 'Returned'. Does the 'Returned' status change after submitting or not? Should it have the status 'Pending' and be read-only for the student?
