[Building Sakai] SCORM player for 2.9?

Hi,
I'll also chime in... the University of Virginia has the Edia SCORM Player running with Sakai 2.8.1. Here is a summary of our experience from this summer.

I followed the installation instructions found at   https://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/SCORMPLAYER/Sakai+SCORM+player+installation+guide

The instructions direct you to get two projects:
    -- https://source.sakaiproject.org/contrib/edia/sakai-wicket-for-scorm/          (checkout as sakai-wicket)
    -- https://source.sakaiproject.org/contrib/scorm/SCORM.2004.3ED.RTE/     (checkout as sakai-scorm)

I exported the source for both "contrib/edia/sakai-wicket-for-scorm/" (creating sakai-wicket project) and "contrib/scorm/SCORM.2004.3ED.RTE/" (creating sakai-scorm project).  I followed the installation instructions with the following exception:  instead of getting the source from 'trunk' branch, I acquired the following tagged versions (which appear to be the latest code from trunk at the time).
    sakai-wicket:  3.0.0 tag
    sakai-scorm:  3.0.2 tag

We ran into a few issues, which Roland at Edia helped us address. Later source tags than I exported would probably contain fixes to issues we ran into this summer.

See Edia JIRA: https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SCO, our jiras are:
-- sakai-scorm fails to build due to 'testSimple' test failure
- https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SCO-86
-- Database errors creating SCORM_ELEMENT_T table
- https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SCO-87
-- PermissionException during first tomcat restart

Besides applying Edia fixes for the DB table creation error and a test failure (which prevented the build from completing), we ran into the need (undocumented, but I should have remembered) to set realm permissions for the new tool.  Also, I was exploring an "Internal Error" reported by the 'SCORM for a single player' tool, but was told that is an undocumented tool, so I removed it and the remaining 'SCORM Player' tool seems to work.

Cheers,

Hi Keli,

We've got the player running in production with 2.8, the source can be found here:

https://source.sakaiproject.org/contrib/scorm/SCORM.2004.3ED.RTE/trunk/

The issue tracker can be found here:

Hi
I'm surprised we've made it this long without much interest in SCORM and Softchalk but we've finally gotten some pressure here. Rustici's player looked like one of the few commercial options until recently, but reviewing some discussions on list it seems like the Contrib SCORM player was greatly improved by Edia.

First, does anyone want to speak to their experience working with either of these?

Second, as best as I can tell from my web searching, neither is compatible with 2.8, let alone 2.9. Is anyone starting the work of upgrading the contrib tool to work with 2.9, or know of Rustici's plans?

I will also post this on the user list...
