Hi Narasi!

We are doing for a customer (but this customer don’t want at this moment to
share with the community the new developments... we are trying to convince
them
) a very easy feature to check this.

There is an “assessment.take” event every time you enter to an assessment
and an “assessment.submit” event when you submit. All of them are inside a
“session” and the “session” has a related IP. So when submitting we check
all the events related to this submission and if there is any IP different
then we will mark the assessment as “possible cheat” . At this moment we
write in a “log” that will be read for another app for this customer but
best option can be add a mark visible from samigo’s interface (as the late
submission mark)

If the customer allows us to contribute this we will create a new feature
jira with the patch and publish it in the list.

Asunto: [Building Sakai] adding additional security to exams in Sakai

While one may use IP addresses or username and pwd to secure an exam is it
possible to lock or allow an exam to be taken from one computer only at a
given time? One can even apply a single machine access mechanism but that
becomes applicable to all Sakai users and may serve as a limitations for
admins and instructors who access the system from 2-3 different machines at
the same time.

Ideally this would be the scenario student comes to a classroom with his/her
laptop, instructor gives them the username and pwd for the quiz that has to
be taken in class. If the student has disclosed his/her pwd to someone else
and that user attempts to sign up from a different location and access this
quiz there could be a warning that would show up and users connection NOT at
the proctored location is terminated.

Will be great to get some feedback if such an option is possible and learn
what other schools have done to prevent students from accessing proctored
exams from 2 different locations.

Thanks,

Narasi
