[Building Sakai] Setting Forums so Postings are Automatica​lly Marked as Read

We are currently on Sakai 2.8.4.1.

Is there a way we can set our Forums default template
settings within our Sakai properties/configuration so by
default the Template Settings are set so forum postings
are automatically marked as read?  

If possible, can you provide us some information on how 
to do this?
