[Building Sakai] Building Sakai 2.9.0 with maven version 2.2.1 or 3.0?

Hello, and congratulations on the release of Sakai 2.9.0!

Reviewing the docs, I see there is a question regarding the version of Maven supported or recommended for building 2.9.0 source.  See:  https://confluence.sakaiproject.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=82249316  -- the install guide for source, Section 4.0.

Is Maven 3.0 now supported by Sakai 2.9.0?
