They are similar.  The problem is that CC is highly detailed with lots of rules that make it more predictable to import.

CP has no rules - but conventions have evolved that are pretty reasonable.  Melete does a pretty good job with its CC export - as an example a Melete CC export imported into LAMS straight-away with no problems - so that bodes well regarding the interoperability of the Melete CC export.

I doubt that it would be too hard to add CP import to Lessons - it would most likely be a de-tuned version of the CC import for web content - but there are lots of little things like namespacing and relative paths that need to be worked through. 

I already pinged Chuck H about this - he has a lot to do but will take a look when he has some time.
