[Building Sakai] Sakai Gamification (Profile2, Badges, etc)

Hello, 


Lately I've been doing research on the subject of Gamification (the use of game design techniques, game thinking and game mechanics to enhance non-game contexts). I feel like this would be a wonderful concept to roll into an LMS. After some quick googling, I found some posts by Steve Swinsburg about "badges" being integrated into Profile2, these were from June 2011 though. Did anything ever come of this? I'd be interested in collaborating. :)
