Did you try running ./shutdown.sh letting it do its thing and then running ./startup.sh to try and start it up again? Sometimes it just needs to reset itself. Sakai should be automatically set-up to use port 8080.

I googled little, and I found out that it could be a matter of firewall, so I turned it off. when a run: netstat -anp | grep 8080 it seems like java is using the same port, I changd the port from 8080 to 8008, but always the same problem. 
Can anyone help me
