[Building Sakai] tomcat 5.5 and Ubuntu 11.10

Hi

It seems Synaptic on Ubuntu 11.10 only lists Tomcat 6 and Tomcat 7 as available for installation. Do I have to download and install Tomcat 5.5 from source, and if so 1.) where do I get it from, and 2.) how would I go about building and installing it? (I am not familiar with installing packages from source on Ubuntu).
