[Building Sakai] calendar merge problems

My immediate personal take is that we should emulate the increasingly familiar (at least for me) Google Calendar model, which makes available each calendar to which I subscribe (we would probably auto-subscribe group members) and then allow individuals to include/exclude any available calendar from their view.

PS Since we (Cambridge) have moved to Google as an institutional calendar we will probably look at using Google Calendar itself in substitute for the schedule module in Sakai, but we are also using the JQuery plugin FullCalendar[1] in a timetabling project that needs a capability to customise event data

(It is possible to say “I want events from the following calendars to be overlaid on this site’s calendar”, this is done using the Merge facility – this is how Neurology has been configured.)
