Hi Karen

I've been talking to many of the people on this list over the past
semester, Steve in particular. I'm not sure what list to post this to,
or if I have access, but if someone could forward it on, that would be
great.

At IU we have a student project that is focused on 6 tools
(announcements, assignments, gradebook, roster, forums, and resources)
and a dashboard of aggregated data. We are creating entity providers for
each of the tools and will use JSON RESTful web services to
GET/POST/PUT/DELETE data. The AuthN will be done via "device pairing"
and the AuthZ will be done with OAuth. This should be ready for Fall
semester.

Here is a working mockup of the iPhone app, which is click-able through
out the classes and tools:

We plan on supporting iPhone, Android, and a web version. We looked at
phonegap about 2 years ago and at the time it wasn't quite what we were
looking for. Recently we have started looking at it again along with
other similar/complimentary tools. It is possible that we move to
something like phonegap but probably not for the first version of mobile
sakai.

I am happy to provide more details if people would like to hear them.

Best,
Nate
