[Building Sakai] Disabling portal chat

Hi,

Is there a way to disable the portal chat? At least in development.

I am getting flooded by jGroups messages, on my single machine with one user and no chat, which is bogging my machine down. I am not sure if this is to do with the jGroups impl or what, but it's getting frustrating.
