[Building Sakai] Discussion Forums - revert to default?

We have gotten several complaints about how the FCK editor in the Discussion Forums delivers false promises about the html that will be interpreted after posting.  Also, with the introduction of the CK editor in 2.8 not being used in the Discussion Forums.

Does anyone know why the Discussion Forums editor was switched to the FCK editor?
Is there a way to switch the Discussion Forums editor back to the one that came with jforums?
How are other schools addressing the issues of the editor promising more than the DF can deliver?
