Hi Brian -

BasicLTI is an 'indie' sakai project, meaning that it gets downloaded and deployed behind the scenes when you build sakai. This makes deploying sakai simpler and can be confusing if you want to customize one of these indie tools.

We're currently working on a doc here:

http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/SAKDEV/Customizing+%27indie%27+releases<http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/SAKDEV/Customizing+'indie'+releases>

It's a draft, but it's our attempt to explain the process of customizing an indie tool. (The instructions are still specific to a different indie tool, samigo, but the basic gist is the same.)

Now that you have Sakai checked out, I would go ahead and build and deploy that. That will get the standard basiclti release into your sakai instance.

Then, you'll need to check out basiclti seperately. I see the version of basiclti that ships with sakai 2.8.0-a01 is basiclti 1.3.0-a01.

You can check it out from here:

https://source.sakaiproject.org/svn/basiclti/tags/basiclti-1.3.0-a01/

shut down your sakai instance and then make your changes to the fresh checkout of basiclti that you just did. When you build that basiclti code and start up sakai again, you should see your changes.

Thanks,
Nicola

Hello,

I just performed an initial accessibility review of the BasicLTI tool's configuration page on Sakai 2.8.0-a01. I'd like to test changes to basiclti-portlet/src/webapp/edit.jsp so I can create an issue in JIRA with a patch that adds the code needed to explicitly tie the text labels to the form controls.

The basiclti-portlet code didn't come down with the 2.8.0-a01 tag that I checked out. Is it relatively easy to add the BasicLTI source to my 2.8.0-a01 build so I can test changes?

Thanks,
  Brian Richwine
