We have some news regarding the Edia SCORM player that is based upon the UC
Davis implementation.

Edia has been awarded the 100% score with the Sakai SCORM player at the
Dutch NOiV Plugfest. During this event, organized by NOiV and Kennisnet,
experts on education show how open-source eLearning can be employed within
different eLearning platforms and Authoring environments. Edia’s version
became first in the ranking of the eLearning category which also featured
It’s Learning and N at tschool. The Sakai SCORM player works within the Sakai
architecture, and it a continuation of the work of UC Davis. An independent
panel of experts lauded the potential of the Sakai product in a competition
in which it had to compete with both Moodle and Blackboard.More information
on the NoiV Plugfest (in Dutch) can be found here:
https://noiv.nl/onderwijsplugfest/. It is possible to test the SCORM player
by going to http://scormplayer.edia.nl.

The major functional improvement of the Edia SCORM player is that it is now
able to publish the learners’ results to the Sakai gradebook. In the
player’s configuration one can select which SCO (Shareable Content Object)
should be synchronized with the grade book. The results in percents will be
transformed to a scale from 0 to 100.

The majority of bug fixes are related to the player’s navigation:
- Resume/Suspend. Within SCORM’s datamodel the status of the package is
saved in the datafield cmi.exit. In the old version saving within this
datafield resulted in the SCORM player not resuming properly.
- Quit. When qutting SCORM packages the status was not saved correctly,
which resulted in invalid status. This has also been fixed in the updated
version.
- Back/Next. The back and next button were never active during the playback
of SCORM packages. This was due to the absence of the Simple Sequencing
Rule. This rule contains a Control Mode with the Flow property, if this rule
is enabled with the Flow property 'True' then the navigational buttons are
available.
