I agree with Anthony's sentiments about a hard(ish) early release date, it is very good for concentrating minds and planning resources.

I think it is important to first capture aspirations and then sync them to reality. Of course, this presupposes that a general frame exists in which to align one's thoughts regarding needs, scope and likely resources. In this regard, I think it important to propose up front one or more release timelines. A December 2010 2.8.0 release (impossible you say) will I suspect look a lot different than an April 2011 2.8.0 release. But I think it useful to stake out potential time blocks for folks to consider. What are your thoughts here?

I recognize that this is the jump off point for our 2.8 discussions but I recommend that you send your "2.8 potential scope" to all lists, not just sakai-dev. It's important to engage the entire Community right from the start regarding 2.8, not just the technical crowd.

Cheers,

Anth

There are some things we can do in Sakai 2 which will not only make it a better product but will also make for a better migration path to Sakai 3. This may include additional LTI work, but should also include entity picker-like [1] functionality.
