Just an opinion...

I think that it should be named almost anything except K2 :) It confuses the basic Sakai2 versus Sakai3 - so here are my nominations:

K3 - Yes it is not our third kernel - but is is Sakai 3's kernel

LCS1 - This stands for the "Learning Content System 1.0" - as it is the first open source learning content system

The LCS1 could be anything as long as it had the number "1" and not be "K1" or "K2". :)

In IMS we had Tools Interoperability 1.0 which did not take off in the market place. As we built its replacement, we internally called it Learning Tools Interoperability 2.0 for 2 years. As we got nearer to release, we realized that TI 1.0 was so deprecated that it was pointless to call use LTI 2.0 as the label for our new stuff. So we decided to call it "LTI 1.0" since it was really a fresh start and hardly a follow-on to TI 1.0.

In a sense since many schools will be running S2 + K1 + S3 + LCS1 for a while - it is good to strongly distinguish between K1 and LCS1 as not just a later version of K1.

Another name for K2 might be "ES1" - "EduSling1".

Just thinking out loud - I will leave the naming to those who are making it :)
