[Building Sakai] sakai 2.7.1 .. updating kernel to 1.1.10?

Folks,
We needed to use the updated kernel to resolve some issues (e.g. mneme) .. I
tried just compiling it separately, getting rid of the old file in
shared/lib and restarting.  Didn't work so I updated master/pom.xml to
reflect 1.1.10 did a mvn clean install, then cd .. mvn clean install
sakai:deploy.

I get:

sigh . any suggestions?  Maybe those poms are explicit to 1.1.9

Is updating the master pom.xml the approach to take?  Is this a "known
thing"?
