I think the poll would exist, but the votes would exist in a state of quantum uncertainty, a litter of Schrödinger's kittens...

What is the reasoning behind having a setting that prevents anybody (including site maintainers) from seeing the results of a poll?
I can see the logic of only letting (say) maintain / instructor roles see the results but not preventing everybody from seeing them.
Is it perhaps some part of a great philosophical riddle: "If a vote is cast in a poll and nobody is allowed to see the results, does the poll exist?"?
