[Building Sakai] site copy and resouces tool

Has anybody done any work on automatically replacing references to siteIDs
when copying a site and its resources.

 

The problem we have is that staff use either the site description or
syllabus to link to materials in resources and when a site is copied, these
references still point back to resources in the old site. 

 

I was thinking that non binary files & description etc) could be passed via
a string substitution process to update siteIDs. Does this sound like a
feasible approach?
