[Building Sakai] Searching for Assignments

Hello everyone,

We're interested in building assignment repositories using the assignment tool in a project site to store large numbers of contributed assignments.  Instructors would have the ability to find an assignment they liked and import it to their own course site.  With the help of rSmart we've made some changes to the assignment tool's import capability to do this but now we're wondering if there is a better way to locate assignments other than simply sorting or scrolling through the list.

These sites will likely contain several hundred assignments and we're interesting in incorporating search functionality into the tool to help facilitate the process of finding an assignment.  Has anyone here built search functionality into the assignment tool (or extended the functionality of the search tool to include assignments)?  Your feedback is appreciated.
