[Building Sakai] How to connect to database using Sakai'api

Last year one of the first projects I tried was write a academic term
admin to test out the sakai api's as well as the zk framework. In the
end I got a useful tool but didn't finish off the pretty important
permission check and integration parts. However, all of the
functionality is there. I'll see if I can find it and send it as an
example as it has all of the calls you'd need. As David mentioned, you
don't need to make any database requests to accomplish this all of the
calls are in the apis for coursemanagement.
