Hello Sakai Core Team!
As you may know, the Sakai Virtual Conference registration fees from
earlier this year have been pooled and earmarked for Sakai development.
The Sakai Virtual Conference attendees voted and chose Samigo (a.k.a.
Tests and Quizzes) as the top pick for use of these funds, and a working
group has been formed to move the Samigo Tests Enhancement Project
(STEP) forward. Before we outline the scope of the project, we would
like to solicit some feedback from members of the Sakai Core Team on the
items currently under consideration for development.
Toward that end, we have compiled a list of new and existing features
and patches (most drawn from existing Samigo jiras) that we think might
improve the tool considerably. We realize that not all of these items
can be addressed with the resources available to STEP. However, before
we select our top priority items to put out for bid, we would like to
get a sense of how easy or difficult the items might be to accomplish
from a developer perspective.
If you could take a little time to look over our list and provide some
feedback, it would be most appreciated. We have added a column on the
right called "Comments from Sakai Core Team" to serve as a place for
recording your feedback. In particular, we are interested in knowing the
level of difficulty and time needed to implement the items in the list
(for example, from "very quick/easy" to "impossible"). Several of the
items in the list already have existing patches that have been
contributed by the community, so we would also like to know your
impressions about the ease/difficulty of merging those patches into Core
Sakai. Any other thoughts or comments you might have are also welcome.
Feel free to add additional columns for comments if needed.
We have an ambitious time line for the STEP work, so we ask that you
please provide your feedback by*Friday, January 9th, 2015.*

Thanks in advance for your help, and happy holidays!
Sincerely,
The STEP Working Group
