[Deploying Sakai] URLs without /portal - /portal/site

We want our URLs look like

sakai.university.edu //Portal, home page
sakai.university.edu/<site>

we did it overwriting webapps/ROOT with the content of the folder
webapps/portal and editing the paths in sakai.properties
#portalPath=
#toolPath=/tool
#loggedOutUrl=
#loggedOutUrl=

but the problem is that the favicon.ico (which is in  webapps/ROOT) is not
shown by the web browser.

How can we fix it?? Do you know other ways to show the URLs like we want
(we found some info about it in
https://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/SAKDEV/URLs+within+Sakai is
wasn't helpful)???
