The University of Florida is currently seeking a talented Unix/Linux
System Administrator in the Open Systems Group within Computing and
Network Services. The Open Systems Group hosts and maintains
infrastructure for many critical campus services and performs
multi-platform systems administration for systems such as web hosting,
e-Learning, Directory Services, Campus Email, Virtualization, as well as
many other services.
Being a full-share member of the Linux team of the Open Systems Group,
this position maintains Unix/Linux Enterprise Systems. These may include
Oracle Database Systems, hosted Enterprise applications, and other Linux
systems. It also provide other systems and application support within
the Open Systems Group. It will research industry trends and participate
in design and implementation roles in deployment and support of new and
existing enterprise systems.
Preferred Qualifications include Intermediate knowledge of the following:
* Intermediate knowledge of administering Unix/Linux operating systems.
* Oracle RDBMS, MySQL, Apache webserver and Tomcat.
* n-tier applications (browser, web, app, db).
* Knowledge of Java, Perl, C++, XML/XSLT, and shell scripting.
* Systems programming, graphical UIs and control languages.
* IT applications such as Word, Excel, Visio, Remedy.
* Good technical writing and communication skills; ability to interact
with people in an effective and courteous manner.
This is a full-time position, with a salary range of $68,000 - $78,000
annually, commensurate with experience.
