[Deploying Sakai] Content Previews & configuration options in OAE

Hey all,

I am having great fun trying to get the preview processor up and running on windows. I assume it's much simpler on a linux box... I was wondering how people were using this, the config/deployment page recommends this be run on a separate server to OAE, is that what everyone is doing for the pilots?

We are currently designing our hardware architecture, we are hoping to run clustered in march, (current thinking is) this requires a separate node for solr, should we also be allowing for a separate node to run the preview processor or will V1.1 have a different approach to this?

Cheers,
Dave.

Hi John,

The list of supported content previews consists of:

- PDF and Office files (requires preview generator script)
- Text and HTML files
- Flash files
- Uploaded videos (only specific formats)
- Slideshare presentations (requires API key)
- Flickr images (requires API key)
- Youtube videos
- Vimeo videos
- Google Maps
- Amazon Kindle e-books
- Picasa images
- Videolectures.net lectures

Hope that helps,
Nicolaas
