It appears that I can touch the lap server from my sakai server:

[root at sakai-LDAP-test]# ldapsearch -x -D 'uid=root,ou=People,dc=olk12
,dc=net' -W -H ldap://192.168.1.9 -b ou=People,dc=olk12,dc=net uid=root

Enter LDAP Password:
# extended LDIF
#
# LDAPv3
# base <ou=People,dc=olk12,dc=net> with scope subtree
# filter: uid=root
# requesting: ALL
#

# root, People, olk12.net

I believe that we will need to be authenticated to the schools LDAP
server, if this is not necesarally true, please epoint me to where I can
find out the difference.

I am totally new to LDAP, as you have probably guessed, and I wanted to
add a user to the LDAP server to do some testing, could you give me the
command line for this? Or a pointer where I can get a document (LDAP
commands) to reference.

Also, would it be possible to speak to you about my issues, I understand
if you would rather not, but am looking at all the help I can get.

Thank you for all of your direction,

Bruce Ballou
