(passing this on from Ian. Sounds like a great gathering, though sadly I
will not be able to make it - your Sakai Community Coordinator, Neal)

There's still time to register for Apereo Europe 2015/ESUP Days at
Université Paris Descartes on February 5th/6th, organized jointly by the
Apereo Foundation and ESUP-Portail consortium.

Registration:

https://www.esup-portail.org/registration/

The programme includes:

* Chuck Severance on the future of the Learning Management System.
Will the LMS finally fulfill it's promise through greater tool flexibility?
Will the implementation of common standards help integrate "innovation on
the edge" with core LMS features and functionality? What will the LMS of
2020 look like? What role will Sakai play in this emerging landscape?

* Apereo Open Academic Environment in practice. Discover how Apereo OAE is
being used in higher education in France, hear about emerging use cases,
implementation progress and future planning.

* Accessible and interactive content with Xerte. Currently in the final
stages of Apereo incubation, Xerte is a widely used platform for authoring
content that is both interactive *and* highly accessible. Hear about
current and future Xerte developments, including integration with Moodle.

* Opencast - open source lecture capture, media management and best
practice. Opencast, in the final stages of Apereo incubation, is gaining a
growing reputation for meeting the lecture capture and media management
needs of higher education - at scale. Hear the latest developments from
around the Opencast community and planning for the imminent release of the
latest version of Opencast Matterhorn.

* UniTime - a comprehensive open source scheduling solution for education.
Produce course or examination timetables, and manage change in a highly
distributed environment. Minimize conflicts, and interface with your
existing Student Information System or use stand-alone.

* uPortal - responsive design and support for multitenancy are among the
latest additions to the proven higher education portal framework.

* Karuta - next generation e-portfolio solution from a partnership of Kyoto
University, HEC Montreal, Institut Universitaire de Technologie IUT-2
Grenoble, and Three Canoes. Flexibility for designing learning portfolios
with rubrics for the assessment of learning outcomes - and more.

* Multi factor authentication with CAS

There's more - including portal based services being developed to serve the
higher education community in France, the experience of implementing
Grouper, use of Elasticsearch, and new mobile developments for French
higher education.
