The University of Michigan Library <http://www.lib.umich.edu> (Ann
Arbor) welcomes applications for the position of Director, Learning
Technologies.
We are seeking a person with vision and an ability to transform the way
we partner with faculty and students in leveraging learning technologies
to advance their scholarship. The director is responsible for leading a
library team of technology professionals and student consultants focused
on the intersection of discovery, content, learning, technology, and
curricular transformation. The director and the learning technologies
team provide leadership for a suite of programs, services, and spaces in
support of course-related projects and technology-rich learning activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g. information, instructional
technology or education) and significant experience enabling
learning/knowledge environments or equivalent combination of education
and experience. (For appointment as a librarian, an ALA-accredited
master's degree or an equivalent combination of a relevant advanced
degree and experience is required.)
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of professionals and
student consultants.
- Demonstrated ability to envision, lead, and transform the way we
partner with faculty and students in leveraging learning technologies to
advance their scholarship.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies
and in the integration of information technology with curriculum.
- Excellent ability to communicate in speaking and writing.
- Successful experience working effectively as part of a team in a
collaborative environment; demonstrated initiative and self-direction.
- Understands and values diversity and the importance of inclusion as
demonstrated through a commitment to apply and incorporate the
differences, complexities, and opportunities that diversity brings to an
organization.
Appointment is anticipated as an assistant director, senior associate
librarian. Position receives 24 days of vacation a year, and 15 days of
sick leave a year with provisions for extended benefits, as well as
opportunities for professional development and travel. TIAA-CREF and
Fidelity Investments retirement options available.
