At CSU, we have been calling Sakai "Interact" and currently plans to call it "Interact 2" once Sakai OAE have been implemented locally, to indicate both continuity and change.

"Open academic environment" and other naming options have been discussed a fair bit and seemed to have described the design goals pretty well - see

It would be good to get further feedback and ideas  :-)

I don't have a great deal to add to the points made by Michael F and David G. I've never known a product naming conversation provoke anything other than strong feelings, and the reason for sharing the name at this point was precisely to secure feedback from the community. Thanks for providing the honest feedback you have, and I'll certainly ensure it gets to both Project Steering Group and Board.

We're currently updating the OAE vision statement. That'll be available for community and public review and comment, together with screenshots and screencasts. When these become available, I'll make sure details are posted to the Announcement and other relevant lists.
