[DG: Teaching & Learning] Fwd: SCORM in Sakai

  An effort was made to jump-start this at the Sakai Conference in 
Denver.  Unfortunately, I wasn't there so I can't really say what 
happened or what the plans are.

I do believe that there is some level of interest in SCORM support for 
Sakai.  The schools that really needed it have gone with one of the 
commercial solutions, I suspect.  To my knowledge, all of the commercial 
solutions have a per-student licensing fee structure, which makes it 
difficult for smaller institutions to adopt.

There are some bugs reported against the David/Edia player, but the 
biggest problem is lack of gradebook support.  Even if this player 
(based on the ADL reference implementation) was made more stable, it 
isn't very useful until GB integration happens.  This is complicated by 
the GB1/GB2/IU-GB split.  Some of these problems are slated for 
resolution in 2.8 (Chuck commented on this a while back).  It might be 
possible to coordinate SCORM development with GB integration.
