I just had to share this silly research project I did as part of my SI301 - Social Computing course this semester.

We talked a lot about networks of people, diffusion of ideas, and the natural of real and internet viruses. So I made this humorous video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdAkKKxOvu4

To see what would happen. I attach the viewer growth detail for the last two weeks. While it is not as viral as a "cute kitty" video, it is showing some signs of viralness. In particular the slope seems to be increasing, not flattening so it may be in the bottom part of an S-curve.

While my original intent was humor and if you go to the companion web site the humor becomes more obvious (check out the patent on the About page), most folks get pretty angry when they see it. So the viralness is because people think that I am an idiot not because I am funny :(

There is about 1-2 comments per hour and I warn you that they are laden with some really coarse statements abut me. You have been warned.

I just figured I would share. as a conversation starter :)

/Chuck

P.S. I am donating any ad revenue that the video generates (so far $8.23) to the UM School of Information since keeping the money I got from a class project seems wrong to me.
