the notification message could indicate whether a response should be expected, however, as we know nobody ever reads these messages!

if the practice is selective (some submissions generate a confirmation, others don't) then it becomes less useful because students don't know whether to expect one or not.

Right, that idea was that high stakes transactions should always be confirmed with an email (the analogy was that when you buy something online you expect to get an email confirmation, you don't have to request one).

Hi all,

I was wondering if there was any use case for allowing submission confirmation emails to be set per-evaluation. At the moment the proposed implementation is that there's a global setting, and if it's on, all submissions will generate a confirmation email (though the default template can be edited by the evaluation owner if necessary).

It seems to me that this is similar to Assignment submission confirmation emails, i.e. if the practice is selective (some submissions generate a confirmation, others don't) then it becomes less useful because students don't know whether to expect one or not.
