[Contrib: Evaluation System] importing question (#1482519)

Hi Adam,

Our branch is not really intended for anyone else to run. Our aim is to make sure all our changes are merged back to trunk and then do a new local release (probably also a branch just for ease of local customization etc.) possibly by June. We definitely will not "go our own way".

A lot of our branch changes are already in trunk though. What specific functionality from the UCT branch are you after?

Regards

I would agree that QTI is the most sensible format. QTI 1.2 seems to be the defacto standard as QTI 2 doesn't seem to have caught on.

We need to be able to import one way or another by june and were hoping to use somebody else's code to do this.

Is there a plan amongst developers to merge the 3 main branches (or rather the 2 main branches into Trunk)?

We're currently looking to move from 1.2.1 to the UCT branch but of course this doesn't have XML import. I'm getting slightly twitchy about putting our eggs in the wrong basket, ie, we go with UCT and then michigan merge into trunk and UCT go their own way.

Is there a plan to do a proper release?

adam

|
| I think the ideal here would be to support QTI which would allow import
| from e.g. Respondus plus questions in T&Q and possibly Mneme (not sure
| what its QTI export is like). I'm thinking of strategies for supporting
| a 'plain text' style import here via QTI (e.g. c/f T&Q's Quick Create).
|
| But I've no idea how easy it would be to match up QTI with the existing
| import code or the work Jim is doing.
|
| Cheers

| we've had a question from our user (!)
|
| "We have had the new evaluation tool added to one of our sites. I was
| wondering if there is any mechanism to upload questions to a survey? I
| have approx. 300 questions currently in a spreadsheet and there are
| obvious benefits to having these in Weblearn, however I don't think I
| can face putting each in one at a time!
|
| Any thoughts on how this might be achieved would be much appreciated."
|
| I've heard that there's an XML import option, but I cant find it. so
|
| 1/ how does on eimport XML
| 2/ is there a definition of the XML format anywhere
| 3/ can one import a CSV file?
| 4/ does anybody have amethod to convert a CSV file into the xcorrect
| XML format?
