[cle-release-team] ehcache version issues

So, an astute observer at UVA noticed that we somewhat botched this
ticket (and the handling of ehcache versions in general). This mostly
affects 2.8.x and the pending 2.8.2 release (which would need a new
kernel made).

I think I know what the fix should be (details in the ticket),
however, is it safe to change it at this late date?
