[Announcements] 2.7.0 update: sakai-2.7.0-M1 milestone tag available

The sakai-2.7.0-M1 milestone tag is available for deployment to QA  
servers.  This milestone tag is neither feature complete nor bug  
free.  It includes a number of snapshot dependencies that by their  
nature are unstable.  That said, a large number of 2.7 capabilities  
are now feature frozen.  Below is a brief summary:

SUMMARY

Feature frozen projects: 61
Projects not frozen: 3 (announcement, msgcntr, samigo)
Projects under PC review for inclusion in 2.7.0: 6

MILESTONE SCHEDULE

I plan to cut a milestone tag every 7-10 days until 2.7.0 is both  
feature complete and includes no snapshot dependencies.  After that we  
can start considering alpha/beta tags.

ECLIPSE METADATA FILES

I have yet to delete the Eclipse metadata files that litter trunk and  
2.7.x per the approved proposal to do so.  Before I do it, sufficient  
warning needs to be given and documentation needs to be created to  
assist developers who will need to learn to leverage Maven's Eclipse  
plugin to (re)-generate the metadata files.  I can write the docs but  
would certainly appreciate someone else taking on the task.

TRUNK POM VERSION CHANGES

I have yet to increment the version numbers of all trunk poms (e.g.,  
2.7.0-SNAPSHOT to 2.8-SNAPSHOT; 1.0-SNAPSHOT to 1.1-SNAPSHOT).  I'll  
do this over the weekend.
