Hi All Accessibility Working Group members,

Below is a list of the accessibility issues that have been found by contributing members during both 2.9 accessibility reviews. I would like to discuss the issues at the next teleconference on August 30th to make sure the group believes they are all critical issues. Don't worry, all issues will be logged as Jiras, but I will be prioritizing my time to first log student facing "critical" issues.

Also, I have included a list of accessibility Jiras which have be created, but either not worked on or not verified. I would like to work with the group to get these issues fixed and verified so they get included in the 2.9.0 release. Thankx.

Potential Student Facing Critical Issues
Profile 2

* The majority of the form controls on the main Profile page (Basic Information section, etc.)

* Birth date text entry read as "read-only edit". The SR user has no idea they are on a click-able element that activates the date picker.

* Calendar icon graphic is announced as "graphic select your birth date. You can control the display of your birth year". Clicking on the

graphic results in getting bounced out of the modal area.

* If for some reason you knew you activated the date-picker, it would not be announced and you couldn't manipulate it with the keyboard.

* When adding a connection the resultant modal window is announced "profile frame" after clicking "Add as a connection" link. Focus is on "add connection" but not announced. Arrowing down announces "cancel" button. Must arrow up to get to rest of information on the modal window.

* When saving Privacy and Preferences settings, nothing is announced when using screen reading software.

* Messages inside the profile tool use color as the only indication for read/unread messages.

Worksite Setup

* Summary list of site settings table is complex. the elements aren't being correctly associated with the cells.

* The "(i)" links don't make sense out of context and don't make much sense in context, either. The title attribute on the links is unavailable to most users.

* Worksite titles are heading level 4, however there no level three heading exists.

* List navigator next and previous buttons are labeled only with ASCII symbols '<' and '>' which will not be announced or meaningful to most screen-reader users.

* "Check All" checkbox label isn't clear.

* The "Email will be sent asking for authorization for you to create this site." and "Please enter additional comments that may help us authorize your site request." instructions on the Course/Section Information page found in the process of defining a new course will not be noticed by most screen-reader users because they will be in forms mode and only form controls and form control labels will be announced.

* Select element for id="importSites" to choose site to import from when reusing material from other sites is not labeled. The special instructions in the "Note: To select more than one item..." text will not be noticed by most screen-reader users.

* The <h4>Re-use Material from Other Sites You Own</h4> should be a legend for the two (Yes, No) radio buttons.

* Publish / Leave as Draft radio buttons do not have a legend to provide context as found on the "Course Site Access" page while defining a new site.

* Limited to whom I add manually and Allow anyone to join radio buttons do not have a legend as found on the "Course Site Access" page while defining a new site.

* The required field notification asterisk on the "Academic term" select box under the "course site" radio button on the new site "site type" page found in the course of defining a new course is outside of the label and the form instructions don't mention that the required field indicator is to be expected.

Announcements

* On the Announcements main page the "Show ___ items" combo box is not explicitly label.

* The page titles do not change when viewing the details of an announcement.

Assignments

* The file upload form control in the attachments section on the test assignment submission page is not explicitly labeled.

Potential Admin/instructor Facing Critical Issues
Users

* Required field is indicated, but not explained (no instructions). Also the star is not part of the label text for the form element.

Sites

* Published, Joinable, Public View, Custom View radio buttons do not have a legend. For instance, tabbing to the Joinable No radio button simply says "No Radio button checked 2 of 2" and does not say what you are saying no to.

* Button text does not make sense out of context. For example when tabbing to the "Add/Edit properties" button, it simply says "Properties".

Worksite Setup

* The required field notification asterisk on the "Authorizer's username:" text input on the Course/Section Information page found in the process of defining a new course is outside of the label and the form instructions don't mention that the required field indicator is to be expected.

* "Worksites list table" table summary is incorrect.

* Site information table needs row headers

* The table summary for the table holding information on site participants is incorrect.

Become User

* Input user id textbox is not labeled.

Announcements

* The remove checkboxes on the announcements main page do not have unique labels.

* The Access and Availability radio buttons on the Post and Edit Announcement pages are not in a fieldset. in addition, the Availability specify Dates check boxes are not in a fieldset. This would also apply to the display options on the options page.

* Multiple Combo boxes on the Post and Edit Announcements pages are unlabeled.

* Multiple "edit" links exist on the Announcements main page

* On the Announcements Options page, the "Display Options" radio buttons do not make sense out of context.

Assignments

* The Grading and Released Grade Notification Email Options radio buttons on the Add and Edit Assignment pages are not in a fieldset. in addition, the Availability specify Dates check boxes are not in a fieldset. This would also apply to the display options on the options page. As well as the "please choose the display option for grading assignment page" on the options page.

* Multiple Combo boxes on the Add and Edit Assignment pages are unlabeled.

* Multiple links on the Assignments Main page have non-unique link text.

* There are 3 "add" links on the Add and Edit assignments pages that do not have a href attribute, but are still clickable

* The "find (Name, ID or Email)" edit field is not labeled correctly and the label is the same as the submit button.

* The "Assign this grade to participants" edit field is not labeled correctly.

* All of the check boxes which gives the instructor an option to allow the selected students to resubmit the assignment are unlabeled.

Gradebook

* The "Student Name/ Find" input form control on the All Grades page is unlabeled. The "View - All Section/Groups", "and - all categories" and "show 50" combo boxes are also unlabeled.

* The "All Grades" text and three button form controls are all part of the same heading level 2 on the All Grades page.

* On the All Grades page there are two tables that have no table headers. The tables visually appear as one table and scroll together as one table. They each have visual table headers coded as lists above their respective tables.
